Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in East Bay

RBTs provide direct treatment to clients throughout the Bay Area. Telehealth (online therapy) opportunities are also available during COVID-19. For in-person essential business, we are following CDC, WHO, and local and state health and safety guidelines. Our current greatest need is in Brentwood or El Cerrito in Contra Costa County.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-one-one behavioral therapy for children to young adults under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

  • Engage learners in interactive behavioral therapy, using the principles of ABA in natural environments, such as the client’s home, school, and community

    • Travel to clients in their homes throughout the East Bay, following health and safety precautions

    • During COVID-19, on a temporary basis, do telehealth sessions as needed

    • Travel to clients in their schools and community locations throughout the East Bay when they reopen, in accordance with health and safety requirements

  • Help learners replace problem behavior and acquire new skills through mastery, generalization, and maintenance of individualized goals in the following areas:

    • Verbal behavior

    • Social skills

    • Play skills

    • Motor skills

    • Self-help and daily living skills

    • Safety skills

    • Executive functioning

    • Self-advocacy

  • Implement play-based learning for children and interactive learning for all ages

  • Apply methods of ABA in therapy sessions, including naturalistic and incidental teaching, discrete trial training (DTT), functional communication training (FCT), verbal behavior, and positive reinforcement based on learner preferences and choices

  • Communicate client progress with parents/guardians and teachers where applicable

  • Record accurate, objective session notes in vivo

  • Use an online data collection system

  • Demonstrate ongoing competency in the most current RBT® Task List and RBT® Ethics Code 

Required Qualifications:

  • Submit proof of current Registered Behavior Technician™(RBT) certification by the BACB® ($250 sign-on bonus for active and unexpired RBT certification in good standing)

  • Submit proof of high school diploma, AA/AS or BA/BS degree

  • Valid CA driver’s license

  • Reliable transportation to client locations in cities throughout the East Bay, including Contra Costa County (current greatest need is in Brentwood or El Cerrito) and Alameda County (current need is in Oakland, Piedmont areas)

  • Pass a DOJ and FBI background check 

  • Provide proof of negative TB test, negative COVID-19 test, and immunizations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or current major in psychology, applied behavior analysis, human development, speech and language pathology, education, special education or a related field

  • One year experience working with children to young adults with disabilities

  • Experience working with children with autism to reduce problem behavior

  • Kind, caring, and compassionate in working with families 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a therapy team

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated interest in increasing your knowledge and proficiency in ABA 

  • Creative, enthusiastic, and passionate about inspiring learners to achieve their full potential

Compensation: $19-$25/hr DOE

Hours: Part-time

Location: East Bay (current greatest need is in Brentwood or El Cerrito); online for telehealth due to COVID-19, but this is not an exclusively online position
