E D U C A T O R S

At Inspire Behavioral Learning, our educators and tutors love what we do. We provide interactive tutoring for all ages to foster meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences. We believe that the best educators are the best learners, and we are lifelong learners. We tutor not only in academic subject content but also how to learn.

We value teaching the whole person. We do this by fostering language and communication, social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development with multisensory activities. We believe in a friendly and fun tutoring style, including not only structured but also naturalistic learning.

We celebrate diversity. As such, we work with learners of all abilities and skill levels. This includes students in general education, students with learning differences (such as autism, ADHD, and gifted students), and beginning to advanced ESL learners. We tutor students at, above, and below grade level.

All tutors are employees with verified qualifications. This includes passing a Live Scan DOJ and FBI background check and reference checks, having three or more years of prior experience teaching or tutoring, and achieving honor roll level grades in college and university coursework. All tutors have college or university degrees and experience in small group and/or 1:1 tutoring for children, teens, and/or adults.

Kelly Knowles

Kelly oversees and coordinates Inspire's tutoring programs and tutor training. She has an MA in Professional Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology and a BA in Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of California, Davis. She also holds a graduate-level Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certificate from UC Berkeley. Kelly has over twenty years of experience in tutoring and emergent curriculum for Pre-K, K-12, college and university students, business professionals and other adults in English, ESL, and executive functioning in after school programs, home and the community. Kelly also had the privilege to design and oversee an after school program for 1st-6th graders in an at-risk school for academic tutoring, enrichment, and recreational activities. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Kelly also has experience in behavioral healthcare for children with disabilities, where she has seen the positive impacts of health and education on each other, developed an appreciation for the wonderful ways in which we can set up learning environments based on the student's own interests to promote success, and grew a love for working with both typically developing and neurodiverse students. She greatly enjoys serving culturally, linguistically, and developmentally diverse students with appreciation for their unique voices to shape their own learning, leading to greater independence in their school, work, personal, and social lives. This includes tutoring students in general education, students with autism, ADHD, and speech and language delays; tutoring ESL for immigrant communities and speakers of Spanish, French, Japanese, Farsi, and over a dozen other native languages; and training tutors in the above. Moved by the power of the environment to spark learning, and the power of individuals to impact the world around them, Kelly trains tutors to create stimulating and enriching learning environments for students to learn by doing. She aspires to continually educate and be educated, drawing out human potential for learning, creativity, discovery, and kindness, bringing each other up to greater happiness, achievement, and fulfillment. Kelly looks forward to coordinating tutoring services with you!

Turner graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BA in Psychology and an English minor. Turner has five years of experience working with children ages 3-18. She has completed Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training, including teaching strategies to arrange the environment to support attention and learning through positive reinforcement. She has American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certification and Biohazard Cleaning Certification, as well as Cal/OSHA COVID-19 safety training. Turner values inquiry, an open mind, and exploration of knowledge as a never-ending process. She also values direct communication, being that communication can be challenging, but if one takes the time to break down exactly what they mean, people can understand one another completely. Her interests include psychology, creative writing, reading, music, animals, nature, and immersing herself in new experiences and cultures. Turner is excited to work as a tutor at Inspire and looks forward to creating a positive environment for your child to grow and learn!

Julian has worked with English as a Second Language (ESL) children, neurodivergent college students, adults on the autistic spectrum, LGBTIQ and young adults. As an individual with Language Delay, Julian understands the challenges of academic learning, while coping with social cues. Through his personal experiences, he has tailored a teaching style that first and foremost, values the individual and ensures their learning is a positive, welcoming experience. His teaching philosophy is to encourage the love of learning and the pursuit of knowledge. Education, to him, is about mastery of a subject at your own pace, to fully understand in your unique way, and to expand your curiosity beyond the classroom. His pedagogy strives to have an honest and comfortable relationship with him and his students and to create a safe and welcoming space, where students feel free to learn.

If you are able to fan within a child that natural flame of inquisitiveness, there is no limit to what they may discover or what they can achieve. From her experience, the best way to fan that flame is by coming alongside them, with her own passionate desire to learn, and walking that road of discovery together. Jana is here to help students with executive functioning, homework and distance learning support, and K-8 multiple subjects tutoring. Her goals as a tutor are not only to help students grow academically, but to inspire within each student a love for learning and to nurture their individual abilities and gifts.
